Description

The all-new sound collection “Expanse” by Aiyn Zahev Sounds includes 130 Arturia Pigments 3 presets.

Expanse explores a wide landscape of cinematic sounds, covering mysterious ambiances, aggressive bass tones, and sequences, up to sonorous leads and rich expressive pads. The patches are designed to complement each other, helping to create tension and release.

Inspired by dark indie movie synth scores and big-budget lush scores alike. This expansion aims to give artists a broad pallet of well-crafted sounds, perfect for creating rich background layers or bold upfront compositions, or of course a mix of both.

The bulk of Expanse is comprised of pads, ambiences, and rich bass tones and rhythmic sequences. There is also a nice selection of FX, leads, and various emotive synth sounds.

Patches have been carefully programmed with various mod wheel, aftertouch, and macro controls, and tagged in Pigments internal browser system.

Also included are additional samples (loaded along with the bank, baked into the patches). These come from amazing analog modules and synths.

Artist & Press Reviews

In the past I’ve heard of the name Aiyn Zahev (aka Sami Rabia) on the internet forums. So when I got my hands on Expanse, I was excited to put it to test. This sound bank was created to be used in Arturia’s flagship synthesizer Pigments 3. Expanse’s main targets are the cinematic music producers. It explores a wide landscape of cinematic sounds – covering mysterious ambiances, aggressive bass tones, nice sequences, sonorous leads and rich expressive pads. The patches are designed to complement each other, helping to create drama and tension. If you create soundtracks for game, TV and film that require plenty of rich backgrounds and layers Expanse has many sounds that are impactful. With 130 high-quality patches, Expanse is sure to inspire many producers, not just the electronic, instantly. When I auditioned the patches, I was really impressed and inspired by it. Here are some of the patches that I like:

SEQ Artificial Intelligence – Melodic sequence
SFX Bones – Strange vocal hit
PAD Calm Sea – Cool, slow moving digital pad
LED Constellation – Analog-like solo lead, sweet and with glide
PAD Desert Planet – Inspired by the final part of the space folding sequence from Dune
PIA Drifter – Intimate piano sound with granular background
SEQ Rounded Edge – 90s throwback techno style sequence
BAS Slither – Deep undulating bass
DRU Trigger – Drop kick
PAD Voyager – Heavy, granular metal pad

Sami Rabia is a really seasoned sound designer and his skill set shows in these patches. These are very high quality patches that have been carefully programmed with various mod wheel, aftertouch and macro control assignments. Patches are tagged in Pigments internal browser system for ease of use. They sound punchy, bright and require little to no tweaking. It was great demoing this bank using my studio headphone so I could hear the small details and nuances of the sounds. If you have Pigments and is considering expanding its stock sounds, Expanse is a really good bank to add to your arsenal.

Installation Guide

Most of our synthesizer related products coming with an additional installation guide, which easily explains, how to install and use the presets.

If for some reason, there is no guide inside the product package – or the included guide doesn`t help or answers your questions, you can also take a look in our Help Centre – which covers the loading of 3rd party presets for several common synthesizers plugins like Sylenth1, Massive, u-He DIVA and more. In addition, our F.A.Q. may also cover some questions.

However, in some cases like hardware synthesizers, the usage and loading of 3rd party presets can be more difficult or untypical compared to software synthesizers. In such cases, please see the manual of the synthesizer itself – this usually covers all topics related to the synthesizer completely and will give you the best guideline.
